Dhaker Tal · Kolkata

Dhaker Tal is a free student project, not a company. We have no interest in your data beyond making the map work, and no way to make money from it. This page says plainly what is collected and what is not.
When you ask for directions or tap “near me”, your browser or phone asks your permission and hands the app your coordinates. That happens entirely on your device. We do not receive it, log it or store it, and closing the app is the end of it.
Two exceptions, because they are how directions work at all: to draw a walking route the start and end points go to OSRM, and searching for a place sends what you typed to Nominatim. Both are OpenStreetMap services. They see the points, not who you are — no account or identifier is attached.
Nothing about you reaches our database. Your saved pandals, your route, your home location and your theme are kept in your own device's storage. Clearing the app's data erases them, and we could not recover them because we never had them.
We store, in our Supabase database:
We never see or hold a password. Google's sign-in never gives us one, and the email option uses a one-time link instead, so there is no password of ours to leak.
What you type in the Request tab — the pandal's name, its location, your note, and the name and contact you choose to add — is stored so an admin can check it, and it alerts us so we see it quickly. Adding your contact details is optional; a request works fine without them.
Each of these necessarily sees your IP address, the way any website you visit does. We have added no analytics, no advertising and no tracking pixels of our own, and there are no third-party cookies.
No advertising or analytics cookies. Signing in stores a session token on your device so you stay signed in; signing out removes it. Everything else lives in local storage and never leaves your device.
The map is safe for anyone to browse without an account. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13.
Write to dhakertal@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with, asking for your account to be deleted. We remove your profile, your saved places and your group memberships from the database, and we confirm when it is done. There is nothing to pay and no reason you need to give.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. The project is small enough that we do not expect it to change often.
Write to dhakertal@gmail.com and we will answer.
Dhaker Tal is run by students in Kolkata. If anything here reads as vague, tell us and we will make it clearer — that is a fair thing to ask of any privacy policy.
